Health Coaching

Many times we find that we desperately want to make a behavioral change, but for whatever reason it hasn’t happened. Health coaching uses behavior change psychology to help you operationalize how to make that change. It dives into why this change actually matters to you, uses that motivation to measure progress, considers how it will affect your life, determines a reasonable starting point, and helps you stay positive about the process along the way.

Every aspect of our life affects our health, happiness, and ability to make behavioral changes, and every individual is unique in how they live. The many areas of wellness (work, family and friends, environments, sleep, physical and mental stress, past and present traumas, etc), circulate together to make our present health and wellbeing. Health coaching aims to design a plan for each individual, considering all these aspects.

Health coaching uses health behavior change psychology to explore how to achieve the health behavior change you want to make.

Who it’s for

Health Coaching is for individuals that want to make lasting behavioral change. Some clients already know what health improvements they are seeking while others want to feel better and are unsure where to start.

How it works

Health coaching is client-lead — you set your own course toward improved health. I am here to ask the right questions to help you navigate the waters. After a free initial consultation, sessions begin and progress as follows:

  • To begin our work together, we’ll discuss what change or changes you want to progress toward, why it is important to you, and consider its affect on the other important areas of your life.

  • We will then consider where it makes sense to start. Oftentimes we are so focused on the end goal that we don’t consider the steps needed to get us there.

Additionally, the starting point often lies in another area of our lives, which will have a ripple affect on the area we want to change.

  • Next we discuss what this change will actually look and feel like in our lives hour to hour, day to day, and week to week. It’s the things we routinely do that snowball into a behavior.

What is the action we want to incorporate into our lives, what would progress look or feel like, and is that action having the effect on us that we want it to?

  • We meet to discuss your ongoing progress, evolve your path, and evaluate how far you’ve come.

Behavior change is an ongoing process that will ebb and flow as life does.
